A Dayton native, Ewing creates at the intersection of narrative, art, and design. A passionate and skilled visual storyteller, Ewing, also known as BEAUTYASAMETAPHOR, is the visionary founder of Beyond The Clouds, an independent creative marketing and strategy consulting practice.

“I see my work as fully active and nuanced expressions that explore several mediums, like paintings, programming, multimedia, and fiber arts,” said Ewing. “My work engages Black diasporic heritage and the experiences around Black creative expression, culture, narrative, and the archive. As a Black artist and practitioner, my work explores themes of healing, self-discovery, beauty, image, queerness/otherness, connection, resistance, and justice; therefore, my work is not just a means of labor, but a tool for liberation, miracle, and actualization.”

Ewing is an awarded alumna of Skidmore College studying gender studies, business management, and arts administration. Industry leaders like Nike, The Weston, The Tang Museum & Skidmore College, the University of Dayton, The Contemporary Dayton, and Zora’s House have tapped Ewing for impactful cultural initiatives via exhibitions, panels, brand campaigns, and workshops. Ewing has influenced visual identity for small businesses like Parable Cafe in Columbus, Ohio, and Kota House in Brooklyn, N.Y., as well as national organizations like Value City and Planned Parenthood. Additionally, Ewing has influenced development for Fortune 500 companies, Ralph Lauren, and L Brands.

“Considering the other areas of my practice, my work in facilitation and programming is also an expression of my art as it uplifts communal healing and transformation,” Ewing said. “My work in creative marketing and media engages my studies and interests in powerful imagery, responsible storytelling, and impactful enterprise.”

Most recently, Ewing curated “Raggin On: Art, Memory and Life with Wendy Kendrick,” a live conversation program in partnership with Art Noire and the Springfield Museum of Art as a part of the premiere and national tour of “Aminah Robinson: A Visual Memoir.” Ewing teaches middle-school art, has served on the Board of Directors of Gem City Market, and volunteers with local farms.
