WFD Leadership Series

The Edison State Community College Workforce Development & Work-Based Learning office will host a Leadership Development Series during the spring of 2025. Designed for new supervisors and leaders, these workshops provide thought-provoking and engaging techniques to develop positive leadership skills. Participants will learn to effectively supervise former peers, improve communication skills, and strengthen conflict resolution techniques.

The Office of Workforce Development & Work-Based Learning will hold each workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Edison State’s Piqua Campus. Development Dimensions International (DDI), a world leader in leadership development, provides the course curriculum.

This series includes the following workshops:

  • Wednesday, February 19, Peer Today, Boss Tomorrow: Making the leap from peer to boss is never easy. New managers often struggle to balance old coworker relationships with new management responsibilities. This course presents four proven strategies to help new supervisors navigate changing relationships and prepare for difficult situations they may encounter as they assume their new role.
  • Wednesday, March 12, Building and Sustaining Trust: This course introduces Trust Builders, actions leaders can take to build and sustain trusting relationships, as well as common Trust Breakers that can erode or quickly break trust. Applying these skills to build trusting relationships enables people to take risks, identify and solve problems, and collaborate to achieve business results. This course helps leaders develop authenticity, aiming for a culture of trust. (This workshop is worth 4 PDCs for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.)
  • Wednesday, April 16, Resolving Workplace Conflict: Today’s business environment challenges organizations to increase productivity, improve quality, shorten cycle time, and reduce costs. An unfortunate but natural byproduct of these challenges is conflict. This course teaches participants to recognize the signs of escalating conflict and take appropriate action to minimize damage. Attendees will learn two resolution tactics—coaching and mediating—and will practice using Interaction Essentials as they coach and then mediate to resolve a conflict. (This workshop is worth 4 PDCs for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.)

Register for a single course for $175 or the three-course series for $450. For more information or to register, email Trisha Elliott, Coordinator of Client Relations & Program Outreach, or call 937.778.7811.
