Supporters recently came together at Edison State Community College’s Piqua Campus for the 15th annual Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle fundraiser to support Edison State Athletics.

This year’s reverse raffle brought in $12,565.70 for the athletics program through the sale of tickets, a silent online auction, and other activities. The event awarded $4,700 in prize money to winning ticket holders. The grand prize winner, Park National Bank, donated the funds to the Miami County YMCA.

“We’re thrilled with the outcome of this year’s Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle,” said Justin McCulla, Edison State Athletics Director. “The funds raised will directly impact our student-athletes. Thank you for the unwavering support. The generosity helps us create a positive and inspiring environment for our student-athletes.”

A silent online auction had 28 items available, donated by area businesses, community members, and athletic teams, contributing to the funds raised.

Originally known as the Charger 300, the Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle began in 2010 to provide funding for postseason play and offset expenses beyond the Edison State Athletics budget. The need for an annual fundraiser for the athletic department grew from the Charger teams winning National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII District Titles and moving on to compete at the NJCAA Division III Final Four.

“Our student-athletes consistently demonstrate their talent and commitment when representing the College,” McCulla said. “They also learn invaluable lessons about perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship that will serve them well throughout their lives. However, pursuing greatness comes with its challenges, and the support we receive from the Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle will impact the success of our programs.”

For the 2014-15 to 2023-24 seasons, the Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle raised $192,897.54 for team uniforms and equipment, facility upgrades, and postseason expenses.

Edison State’s intercollegiate athletic teams compete in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and are Division II members of the NJCAA.

The Edison State Athletics Department and The Edison Foundation partner to host the annual reverse raffle event. The Edison Foundation’s mission is to assist Edison State in meeting its educational and community service goals by providing resources to advance student success.
