6th Annual Drive for Scholarships a Success

The Edison Foundation at Edison State Community College enjoyed a great day of golf at the scenic Troy Country Club during its 6th Annual Drive for Scholarships event on July 26. The event welcomed 80 participating golfers, as well as volunteers and sponsors, and raised $16,518 for scholarships.

Golfers take part in the annual Drive for Scholarships event

Golfers take part in The Edison Foundation’s 6th Annual Drive for Scholarships event, held at the Troy Country Club.

The Edison Foundation at Edison State Community College enjoyed a great day of golf at the scenic Troy Country Club during its 6th Annual Drive for Scholarships event on July 26. The event welcomed 80 participating golfers, as well as volunteers and sponsors, and raised $16,518 for scholarships. This brings the total funds raised through the annual event to $86,334, equating to at least 86 $1,000 scholarships over the past six years.

All proceeds directly benefit the student scholarship program, which provides Edison State students with the opportunity to attain higher education. Recipients of the scholarship can pursue their educational and career goals with less financial worry.

The Waibel Energy Systems team placed first in the scramble, consisting of the following golfers: Gordon Fairchild, Shane Gallmeier, Mike Minnig, and Scott Minnig. Placing second was the Edison State team, consisting of Chad Beanblossom, Bruce McKenzie, Ethan Tauscher, and Kyle Vanover. Coming in third place was the Ernst Concrete team, consisting of Landon Coning, Collin Ernst, Andy Maurer, and Grant Westfall. The second and third place teams generously donated their winnings back to The Edison Foundation.

In addition to 18 holes of golf, the scramble included lunch, a putting contest, a skins game, and raffle prizes.
