Women Inspire: Stories and Sessions

Wednesday, March 5

Leadership Panel | 11:30 a.m.–12:25 p.m. | Robinson Theater, Piqua Campus
The first fifty in attendance will receive a FREE smoothie!
Find inspiration from a panel of regional female leaders as they share their success stories. Active or casual attire is encouraged so you feel comfortable engaging in the activities after the panel. 

  • Welcome and Introductions: Dr. Melissa Wertz, Provost of Edison State
  • Panelist: Julie Casiano, Owner of Smoothie Life
  • Panelist: Cindy Frantz, Recruiting and Community Relations at Scott Family McDonald’s and Adjunct Instructor at Edison State
  • Panelist: Lauren Kilburn, Police Officer at Jackson Center Police Department
  • Panelist: Kathy Sherman, President of Piqua Chamber of Commerce

Self-Care Sessions | Session One: 12:30–1 p.m., Session Two: 1–1:30 p.m. | Pavilion A & B
Feel empowered by participating in two FREE engaging sessions focusing on wellness. These sessions are provided by the Miami County YMCA–UVMC/Premier Health Branch. 

  • Session One–Yoga: Focus on balance and find calm amid everyday pressures.
  • Session Two–Zumba: Follow the rhythm to tone and sculpt your body. You do not need to know how to dance to enjoy this fun aerobic class.

Women Impact: Make a Difference

March 3-13

Impact Competition | Register by Monday, March 3 | Donations Due by Tuesday, March 11 at 2 p.m.
Form a team of up to five to collect donations to positively impact local communities by supporting organizations such as the Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, New Choices, Inc. in Shelby County, and Shelter from Violence, Inc. in Darke County. The team with the most donated items will be considered the most impactful. One team member must register their team in the competition. After registration closes, teams will learn the types of items to collect.

Clothing Drive | Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Robinson Student Career Center, Piqua Campus
Donate your professional attire, prom, wedding, or formal dresses for a worthy cause. 

  • How to Donate: Drop off your donations between March 1 and March 11 during regular business hours in the Student Affairs Suite (Room 160) at the Piqua Campus or any regional location's front desk. You can also visit the Piqua Campus on March 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to drop off items directly to representatives of local nonprofit organizations. Clothing donations will benefit the following organizations: 

    Morgan's Place Cemetery utilizes fabric from wedding and formal dresses to create handmade gowns and clothing for infant burials.
    Clothes That Work aims to clothe, educate, and empower individuals to prepare them for employment opportunities.
    Hope Closet Dresses provides free formal dresses and accessories to high school girls facing financial hardship.

Impact Jam | Thursday, March 13, from 12–3 p.m. | Room 113, Piqua Campus
Join us in organizing donations collected during the Impact Competition. Listen to influential female artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Gwen Stefani, and have fun making an impact.

Women Create: Express Yourself

Tuesday, March 25

Create in the Courtyard | Tuesday, March 25, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
The first 120 to attend will receive a FREE cupcake.
Join us in the Piqua Campus Courtyard for all activities in the realm of art and creation! In the case of inclement weather, this event will be moved to the cafeteria. 

  • Ceramics sale by Edison State Art Department
  • Creating sidewalk chalk art
  • Bracelet making
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Learn about soap-making and more!

Inspiration Stations: Spread Positivity

Month of March

Spread positivity at our inspiration stations all month long. Available at each campus location, stop by the wall to take or leave a positive message. Cards will also be available for you to write an inspiring message to show appreciation for the women in your life. Find supplies at the Robinson Student Career Center at the Piqua Campus or near the front desk at each regional location.
