State Grants–More information.

Short-Term Technical Certificate Grant Program  As of April 4, 2023, all funds have been allocated. No further applications will be accepted. Please check back regularly for funding updates. The Ohio Department of Higher Education has awarded Edison State Community College a special grant for approved short-term technical certificate programs (less than 30 credit hours) through the Short-Term Technical Certificate Grant Program. This grant is designed to assist students who have financial need up to $2,000 for a qualifying short-term program, listed on the application. When funds become available, students may complete the application form and submit to the Office of Financial Aid for review. If approved, the award may be applied to classes required for the short-term technical certificate program only and may be used in multiple semesters, as long as the student is continuously enrolled, until their eligible award has been exhausted or until all grant funding has been utilized, whichever comes first. This grant may be used for tuition and lab fees only; it does not cover books and supplies. This grant program does allow students to receive this grant in conjunction with federal aid programs, such as the federal Pell grant or federal loans, for the same courses. The Short-Term Technical Certificate Grant can be applied to tuition and and fees first and if the student has Pell grant eligibility, those funds can be used to purchase books and supplies. This grant program allows the student to receive a maximum of $6,000 total per lifetime or three separate grant awards to complete three different short-term technical programs. The student can apply for a new grant award for a new short-term technical certificate program after they successfully complete the prior short-term technical certificate program.

Ohio War Orphans  The Ohio War Orphans Scholarship Program awards tuition assistance to the children of deceased or severely disabled Ohio veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of declared war or conflict. To be eligible, students must be under the age of 25 and enrolled for full-time undergraduate study to an accredited Ohio college or university. Ohio residency is required.

Ohio Education Training Voucher Program  The Ohio Education and Training Voucher Program is a federally-funded, state-administered program designed to help youth who were in foster care. Students may receive up to $5000 a year for qualified school related expenses. Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible students. Applicants must complete the ETV application which includes documentation each semester that is sent directly from the school to ETV confirming enrollment, the cost of attendance (COA) and unmet need.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant  The Ohio Board of Regents administers the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) program, which provides grant money to Ohio residents who demonstrate the highest levels of financial need (as determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) who are enrolled at Ohio public university main campuses (not regional campuses or community colleges), Ohio private, non-profit colleges or universities and Ohio private, for-profit institutions. While OCOG is not generally available to community college students, those community college students eligible for the ETV program may also be eligible for OCOG. In addition, community college students may be eligible for a OCOG if they attend year-round and have exhausted their Pell grant.
