Edison State Community College expresses its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Darryl Mehaffie. Mehaffie served on the Edison State Board of Trustees for 25 years. His unwavering commitment to the College added immense value to Edison State and the community.

“This is a tremendous loss for the Edison State family and for all who knew Darryl. He was an extraordinary person in so many ways,” said Edison State President Chris Spradlin in an announcement to the College. “He was kind, encouraging, helpful, and inspirational to everyone he met and especially to his Edison State family. We will miss him dearly as a trustee, as a mentor, and as a friend.”

Teaching at Northmont City Schools in Englewood for over 30 years gave Mehaffie considerable expertise in education. After retiring in 1996, he continued to serve on boards and committees advocating for education, agriculture, arts, and the region.

The Edison State community is saddened by the loss of Mr. Mehaffie and remains forever grateful for his contributions and continuous display of kindness and compassion.
