Edison State Community College’s softball team will return to the field on Tuesday, March 3, when they travel to Indiana Tech University JV.

Head Softball Coach Miranda Huddle enters her fourth year with the Edison State softball program and her third year as head coach. Prior to Edison State, she coached for three years as an assistant softball coach at Miami East High School, picking up a Three Rivers Conference Co-Champions title and a state final four appearance in the 2022 season. She also has five years of experience coaching travel ball, two as a head coach and three as an assistant coach.

Huddle was a four-year member of the Ohio Northern University softball team, where they were Ohio Athletic Conference Champions and National Collegiate Athletic Association Regional Runners-Up in her final season in 2018.

“We’re excited to be back and are working hard to prepare for the 2026 spring season after coming off the 2025 season posting many firsts in program history,” Huddle said.

The team finished 24-10 in the 2025 season and brought home the first conference championship for the program, finishing as Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Co-Champions. They swept the annual OCCAC awards and received half of the All-OCCAC Team awards. During week eight of the 2025 spring campaign, Edison State received votes for the National Junior College Athletic Association DII Softball Rankings for the first time in program history and continued to receive votes for the following three weeks.

The Lady Chargers hit the field with seven sophomores and 10 freshmen. They return every freshman from the 2025 campaign and add nine newcomers to round out the roster for the 2026 season.

Marissa Pine and Zoey Hodge return to the circle for Edison State after a record-breaking freshman season.

In 2025, the OCCAC named Pine the OCCAC Player of the Year and OCCAC Pitcher of the Year; she also earned a spot on the All-OCCAC Team as a pitcher and utility and made it on the 2025 Region XII Division II All-Region Team. Pine posted a 1.584 ERA with 148 strikeouts in 101.2 innings pitched. She finished second on the team last season with a 0.435 batting average and contributed 37 hits, 31 RBIs, and 22 runs scored.

Hodge returns after receiving All-OCCAC Team honors as a pitcher. She posted a 2.753 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 89.0 innings of work. Zoey finished last season with a 0.400 batting average, contributing 20 hits, 15 RBIs, and 12 runs scored.

The Lady Chargers also return Abigail Kadel, who led the team last season with a 0.438 batting average, 49 hits, eight home runs, and 40 RBIs. She contributed 44 runs scored as well. Defensively, Kadel had 48 putouts and 27 assists from second base.

Emma Kamerer, who received All-OCCAC Team honors in the outfield and was named to the Region XII Division II All-Region Team, returns after finishing the 2025 season with a 0.378 batting average, 42 hits (including three home runs), 40 RBIs, and 39 runs scored. Contributing time in the outfield and at the corners, Kamerer finished with two assists and 27 putouts.

The softball team also returns Jenna Dirksen, who finished the 2025 season with 30 hits, including seven home runs. She contributed 37 RBIs and 35 runs scored. Dirksen racked up 97 putouts and seven assists contributing time in the infield, outfield, and behind the plate.

Camryn Swain returns to the Lady Chargers after seeing some time in the outfield last season. She finished the 2025 campaign with a 0.391 batting average, 18 hits, eight RBIs, 14 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.

Izzy Holp also returns after seeing some time behind the plate and at the corners last season. She contributed three assists and 51 putouts to the 2025 defense, along with nine hits and five RBIs to the offense.

Lastly, Jalyn Cain and Morgan Rodgers return. Both look to contribute after being out with injuries last season.

Freshmen Ella Dersham, Kasidi Daugherty, and Kyanne Tyson look to join Pine and Hodge in the circle. Hannah Williams and Jae Walker will contribute behind the plate. Additional freshmen expected to make an impact are Amerie Matthews, Jaylah Arnold, Mackenzie Byrne, and Taylor Bauer.

Assistant Coach Brad Huddle joins Head Coach Miranda Huddle in leading the softball team. This is his third season with the Lady Chargers, and he brings numerous years of coaching experience to the program.

After traveling to Indiana Tech, the Lady Chargers will hit the road to challenge Kent State University–Tuscarawas on Wednesday, March 4. They’ll play their first home games on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, when they host St. Clair County Community College.
