8th Annual Drive for Scholarships a Success

The Edison Foundation at Edison State Community College enjoyed a great day of golf at the scenic Troy Country Club during its eighth annual Drive for Scholarships event on July 31. The event welcomed 92 participating golfers, as well as volunteers and sponsors.

All proceeds directly benefit the student scholarship program, which provides Edison State students with the opportunity to attain higher education. These scholarships open doors for students to pursue meaningful careers, achieve their goals, and build brighter futures.

The Hartzell Propeller team placed first in the scramble, consisting of the following golfers: Eric Ashton, Matt Beckner, Derrick Mikolajewski, and Spencer Lavey. Placing second was the Miami Acres Animal Hospital team, consisting of Jason Johnston, Jamie Johnston, Joe Goodall, and Matt Shaffer. Coming in third place was the McKenzie team, consisting of Bruce McKenzie, Dale Black, Bob Lewis, and Steve Benner.

In addition to 18 holes of golf, the scramble included lunch, various competitions, and raffle prizes. The Foundation also hosted a golf ball drop before the shotgun start, with the ball closest to the pin winning half the pot. Three balls went in the hole, with Tamara Baird-Ganley, Cameron Caldwell, and Melissa Eve splitting the winnings.
