Edison State Invites Stakeholder, Public Comments at Nursing Accreditation Visit

Edison State Community College’s Nursing program will welcome an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing accreditation review team from October 13-15, 2026. The College invites community stakeholders, including local employers, clinical representatives, graduates, and the general public, to attend an open forum on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 11:15 a.m. to noon in room 020A of Edison State’s Piqua Campus. This forum gives stakeholders the opportunity to share their perceptions of the program and community support for the program, its students, and its graduates.

This site visit is an important opportunity to demonstrate Edison State’s continued commitment to ACEN standards and to the quality of students’ nursing education and experience. The visit includes continued accreditation of the College’s Registered Nursing and LPN/ADN associate degree options, as well as an initial accreditation review for its RN-to-BSN completion program.

The ACEN supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice, and the public by providing specialized accreditation for all levels of nursing education programs. As the leader in nursing education accreditation, the goal of the ACEN is to be a supportive partner in strengthening the quality of nursing education.

Accreditation of a nursing program is a process by which a group of peers (“peer evaluators”) evaluates a program to determine its quality. The peer evaluators perform this evaluation by conducting an in-person site visit, after which the ACEN Board of Commissioners makes an accreditation decision. When a nursing program holds ACEN accreditation, it means that ACEN recognizes that the program meets a set of standards and can be trusted to deliver quality education.

While many state authorities and regulatory agencies require nursing programs to maintain programmatic accreditation, ACEN accreditation is a voluntary process. To date, the ACEN accredits over 1,400 programs domestically and internationally.
